Thrive Upstate will be hosting a Drumming Up Awareness event at the Peace Center Plaza, 300 South Main Street, Greenville at 12pm on Friday, March 27, 2020 and we would like to include you!
Our mission since 1971, is to provide all people with disabilities and special needs with meaningful services, opportunities, and support so they may thrive in work, life, and play. Together we are redefining ability and Drumming Up Awareness is one of the many ways we do that. It serves to bring attention to the “abilities” of the talented individuals in our group while spreading the message about the importance of inclusion in Greenville community as each of us deserves the same opportunities to participate in all aspects of life.
The event started with a small group of individuals served in Thrive’s Day Services Program and has grown in both size and popularity. In collaboration with The Fine Arts Center, Mauldin High School, and several other local schools, drummers will perform with Thrive Upstate drummers at this free outdoor event. Additional percussion instruments will be available for all attendees to be able to take part as well.
Through social media and with money already raised by our friends and generous corporate sponsors: BMW, Michelin, and PRISM, Thrive plans to grow this event every year, which will serve not only to promote inclusion of special needs individuals into our community, but will also provide an additional funding source for Thrive.
Please join us as an official event sponsor. We have received over $6000 so far. Thrive Upstate is a 501(c)(3) so all donations are tax deductible.
